Perk # 13: Cancer Has Boosted My Self Esteem

You must be wondering, how  cancer can possibly BOOST my self esteem?
Well, since facing this battle, I have gotten so many words of encouragement and praise from people I know, such as:

-“You are an inspiration.”

-“You are the strongest woman I’ve ever met.”

-“You are the most positive person I know.”

-“If anyone can beat this thing, it is YOU.”

And now, I’m even getting ego boosts from people I don’t know!  Just yesterday, I got this comment about my blog from Guillaume, at www.ismycancerdifferent.com:

“First of all let me express how much we like your site: its positivity and humor in the face of a situation that isn’t always funny is truly inspiring. Congratulations!”

(Good thing I have two teenagers to keep my ego in check.)

Tip: When people tell you positive things about yourself, BELIEVE them.  They are not just making it up because you have cancer, they are just more comfortable saying it to you at that time.

  1. Hi there! I just came across your blog, and the title of your post resonated with me.

It may sound strange to those outside the world of breast cancer, but I get what you’re saying. I have more self confidence since being diagnosed with BC. (Actually, the confidence came after dealing with surgery and setbacks.)

I used to live in NYC and at the time thought (just like the song), if I could make it there, I can make it anywhere. BC trumps NYC in the building confidence department.
